PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
25th anniversary of Srebrenica genocide (7 July 2020)
Motion Details
That this House notes that from 5 to 12 July 2020 the UK will mark the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide where over 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were murdered in and around Srebrenica by Bosnian Serb forces with a number of activities being held across the country; expresses support for the UK National Srebrenica Memorial Day Commemoration being organised by Remembering Srebrenica which will take place online on 11 July and will feature contributions from the Prime Minister, HRH Prince Charles and survivors of the genocide and ethnic cleansing in Bosnia; commends the Mothers of Srebrenica for its tireless campaigning for justice and the truth; praises the dignity and determination of all survivors to rebuild their lives; and recognises the hugely valuable work done by Remembering Srebrenica in using the lessons of Srebrenica to tackle hatred and prejudice to help build a safer, stronger and more cohesive society in the UK.
