PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
World Animal Day (7 July 2020)
Motion Details
That this House recognises that 4 October 2020 is World Animal Day, the global awareness day for raising the status of animals in order to improve animal welfare standards; gives thanks to all those people who care for animals; congratulates charities and people who work tirelessly to support and raise awareness of animal welfare; acknowledges the link between cruelty to animals and violence towards humans; notes the tangible benefits of people's relationships with companion animals, as therapy, assistants to people who are blind or disabled, and friends to people who are socially isolated; notes the importance of nature and wildlife conservation and protection; and further notes that through increased awareness and education a world can be created where animals are always recognised as sentient beings and full regard is always paid to their welfare; and encourages everyone to show their support for animals in the lead up to and on World Animal Day itself.
