PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
CONDUCT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE (No.2) (7 June 1993)
Motion Details
That this House is astonished that the Department of Trade and Industry has admitted that the President of the Board of Trade had a word with the Attorney General about the case of Asil Nadir before he breached bail to flee to the illegal regime of northern Cyprus; notes that he is the third Minister known to have contacted the Attorney General about Nadir; is convinced that it is not the job of Ministers to make representations to protect a private individual charged with defrauding the public; and calls on the President of the Board of Trade to restart the proceedings in his Department to ban Asil Nadir as a company director.
