PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
35th anniversary of Newry Police Station mortar attack (4 March 2020)

Motion Details

That this House recalls with great sadness the death of nine Police Service of Northern Ireland officers at the Newry Police Station which was attacked by mortars on 28 February 1985; extends continued sympathy to the families of those officers who were killed by the IRA; offers support to those RUC officers who still struggle with the trauma of that atrocious event and others who suffered in service to Queen and Country; and further calls on the Government to end the investigations of the security forces which is further detrimentally affecting the mental health of people who laid their lives on the line during the Troubles.
