INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS AT UNITED NEWSPAPERS (24 May 1993)
Motion Details
That this House notes the de-recognition of the National Union of Journalists at the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post, parts of the United Newspapers Group; further notes that this follows the de-recognition of the former NGA and SOGAT unions and that de-recognition has led to massive reductions in pay and conditions of employment; believes that free trades unions are a pre-condition of a democratic society along with a free press; and calls on the management of United Newspapers to reverse this abuse of employees' rights.
