WARREN SPRING LABORATORY (24 May 1993)
Motion Details
That this House commends the excellent environmental work carried out at Warren Spring Laboratory in areas including atmospheric pollution, marine pollution, waste management, recycling, the treatment of contaminated land and cleaner technologies and the success of this institution as a Next Steps Agency; recognises the ongoing importance of the work carried out at Warren Spring in underpinning Government policies on environment protection; notes with concern reports that the President of the Board of Trade now intends to go back on the agreement reached in 1992 to relocate Warren Spring Laboratory and instead to close it with the loss of 150 jobs and scientific expertise built up over many years; and calls on the President of the Board of Trade to save Warren Spring Laboratory from closure.
