PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
Charity lotteries reform (19 December 2019)
Motion Details
That this House welcomes the Government's decision in July 2019 - following significant and lengthy research and consultation - to raise the charity lottery annual sales limit to £50 million, thus reducing burdensome bureaucracy and administration costs whilst allowing millions of pounds more in funding to be directed to charities across the country; notes that the Government has not yet implemented the new limit; further notes that the official regulator, The Gambling Commission, has backed early implementation of the new limit; and calls on the Government to implement the new limit in the first quarter of 2020 at the latest, in order to avoid further delay that would mean local charities across the country losing out on more vital funding.
