PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
IRISH CULTURAL CENTRE IN LONDON (23 July 2019)
Motion Details
That this House notes that the Chair of the Irish Cultural Centre in London, Jim O’Hara, is stepping down after 13 years' dedication and service; acknowledges the leadership, commitment and vision that Jim showed in his capacity as Chair of the Irish Cultural Centre for more than a decade; further notes his central role in overseeing the redevelopment and delivery of the new centre in Hammersmith; observes that the Irish Cultural Centre since its foundation in 1995 has served a vital social and cultural purpose in the London Irish community, promoting the richness and diversity of Irish cultural through theatre, art, music, poetry and literature; highlights the important role that Irish centres and organisations such as the Irish Cultural Centre play throughout Britain in championing culture, understanding and good relations between our islands; congratulates the new Chair, Peter Power-Hynes; and wishes the entire team well in the Irish Cultural Centre’s next chapter.
