LGBT HISTORY MONTH 2019 (21 February 2019)

Motion Details

That this House recognises February as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) History Month 2019; affirms that this month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans history serves to challenge heterosexist attitudes in society; commemorates the struggle for gay rights and related civil rights through the past decades and celebrates the increasing freedoms and equality afforded to the LGBT community in recent years; welcomes the themes of Peace, Activism and Reconciliation for this year's celebrations; and further celebrates the progress made to create a culture of acceptance in educational and other institutions in the UK, which allows LGBTpeople achieve their full potential and contribute fully to society.
