PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
FIZZ FREE FEBRUARY (29 January 2019)

Motion Details

That this House notes high levels of obesity amongst children and adults, with severe obesity being four times higher for children in deprived areas compared to the least deprived areas across the country; acknowledges the issue of tooth decay amongst children, with over 45,000 extractions of children's teeth being carried out in England during 2016-17; calls on the Government to do more to combat the rise of obesity and tooth decay; and welcomes initiatives like Fizz Free February, established by Southwark Council in 2018, which encourages children and adults to give up fizzy drinks during the month of February.
