PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
MAKING CLIMATE CHANGE A PRIORITY FOR THE NATIONAL PLANNING POLICY FRAMEWORK (10 June 2018)

Motion Details

That this House takes notes of the draft revised National Planning Policy Framework; further notes that the status of the Climate Change Act 2008 with regards to local planning decisions has been downgraded in that draft; expresses alarm that this change could compromise action on climate change at the local level, as well as reduce the urgency of building community resilience to the effects of climate change; calls on the Government to restore the requirement for local planning to deliver on the objectives and provisions of the Climate Change Act; and further calls on the Government to ensure that climate change is a critical priority for the planning system in the revised National Planning Policy Framework.
