PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
150TH OPEN (21 February 2018)

That this House welcomes the decision by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews to stage the 150th Open at St Andrews from 11 to 18 July 2021; notes that this will be the 30th time that The Open has been played over the historic Old Course, which first hosted the championship in 1873; hopes that more people of all ages across the UK will be inspired by the tournament to take part in golf; notes that The Open delivers an economic benefit of up to £100 million to its host area; and looks forward to welcoming players and spectators from around the world to mark the occasion of the 150th staging of golf's oldest championship at the home of golf in 2021.
