PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
RBS BRANCH CLOSURES IN ARGYLL AND BUTE (6 December 2017)

Motion Details

That this House condemns the decision of RBS to close 62 of its branches in Scotland including those in Campbeltown, Rothesay and lnveraray in Argyll and Bute; is deeply worried
about the effect such closures will have on our rural communities, many of which will now be left without a single bank in their town; notes with great concern that the people of lnveraray in particular will now face an 80 mile round-trip to access any banking services; believes that this decision completely undermines the work being done by the Scottish Government, Argyll and Bute Council, Highlands and Island Enterprise, the Argyll Economic Forum and many others to promote Argyll and Bute as a great place to live, work, raise a family and do business; and urges the majority state-owned RBS Group to better understand its social responsibility and reverse these brutal closure plans.
