PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
GORDON AIKMAN BEM (3 February 2017)

Motion Details

That this House celebrates the life and legacy of Gordon Aikman BEM and mourns his death; notes the enormous contribution that Gordon Aikman made to Scottish politics; is in awe of his selfless campaigning work following his diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) at the age of 29; welcomes the success of Gordon's Fightback campaign in securing public funding for MND nurses, a doubling of the number of MND nurses in Scotland, additional support to help MND sufferers to communicate, and a living wage for carers; regrets that Gordon Aikman's call for extra funding for research into MND has not yet been answered; calls on the Government to double funding for research into MND; and sends its deepest condolences to Gordon Aikman's husband, Joe Pike, his family and wide group of friends.
