350TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON (4 September 2016)
Motion Details
That this House notes that 2 to 5 September 2016 marks the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London in which approximately 13,000 homes were destroyed, 85 per cent of the city was devastated and an unrecorded number of people were killed or injured; welcomes the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health reception to highlight the continued importance of designing-in fire safety when developing towns, cities, buildings and infrastructure, and the cost-benefits of investing in fire safety measures, training and competence; and urges a multi-disciplinary approach to fire prevention, involving designers, architects, town planners, fire safety engineers, health and safety professionals and the emergency services.
