NEATH ABBEY IRONWORKS (28 June 2016)

Motion Details

That this House recognises the remarkable contribution of Neath Abbey Ironworks in the development of the Industrial Revolution, particularly the innovation in all spheres of engineering, with its products ranging from locomotives and cranes to iron-hulled sailing ships and schooners; salutes one of its celebrated ironmasters, the anti-slavery and peace campaigner, Joseph Tregelles Price; congratulates the Friends of Neath Abbey Ironworks on working to build cooperation between itself, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, West Glamorgan Archive Service and Swansea University in order to highlight the educational, heritage and tourist potential of the site; and welcomes the forthcoming inaugural annual lecture, Neath Abbey Ironworks and its place in the Industrial Heritage of Neath, to be delivered in Autumn 2016.
