PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
GLOBAL ABOLITION OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS (5 June 2016)

That this House notes that the UN Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG) on Nuclear Disarmament met in Geneva in May 2016, where a proposed treaty to ban all nuclear weapons was discussed and attracted widespread support; is dismayed that the Government has refused to participate in the OEWG; is concerned that plans for Trident replacement will set back the cause of global abolition of nuclear weapons; and calls for the Government to actively engage in international efforts to eliminate nuclear weapons and support the proposed ban treaty.
