PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
PROVISION OF SANITARY PRODUCTS THROUGH PRESCRIPTION OR VOUCHERS (8 March 2016)

Motion Details

That this House believes that no-one should have to go without sanitary products during menstruation; recognises that many women in poverty are unable to afford sanitary towels and tampons and are ashamed to ask food banks for assistance; recommends that sanitary goods be made available without charge either through free prescriptions or through a voucher scheme similar to Healthy Start; is concerned that women are at risk of significant health problems without proper sanitary goods; and supports the breaking down of the taboo that still surrounds menstruation.
