PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
EAGLESHAM MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT COMMITTEE (9 November 2015)

That this House congratulates Eaglesham 1990 Macmillan Cancer Support Committee on reaching its 25th anniversary; notes that the group's founder, Marie Jeffrey, was prompted to start fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support in response to a relative losing her battle against cancer; further notes that over this 25 year period the group has raised the impressive sum of £400,000 through a range of activities, from small-scale fundraising lunches, to a massive Run the Roads event with over 10,000 people taking to a new by-pass road the week before it opened to traffic; and commends the work of Marie Jeffrey and the many others who have sustained this Eaglesham group and similar community groups all over the country, helping Macmillan Cancer Support to fulfil its ambitions of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer and inspiring others to do the same.
