PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
FIRE SERVICE REDUCTIONS IN SERVICES (12 October 2015)
Motion Details
That this House recognises that cuts to the fire and rescue service put the public at great risk; is concerned that last year saw the largest ever loss of firefighter jobs with 1,800 axed; notes that fire station closures and cuts to equipment and appliances are widespread; further notes that recent research has shown that 38,000 people across the UK were rescued by firefighters last year; and calls on the Government to ensure that the forthcoming spending review does not make further cuts to the fire and rescue service.
