PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
MERCHANT NAVY AND THE ARCTIC STAR (6 September 2015)

Motion Details

That this House acknowledges the work of local authorities, including East Renfrewshire Council and many other organisations and individuals to mark Merchant Navy Day on 3 September 2015; recognises the valuable role played by the Merchant Navy in peacetime and in times of conflict and the dangers they faced; and considers it appropriate that the families of merchant mariners who saw service north of the Arctic Circle between 3 September 1939 and 8 May 1945 and who perished during the war or have since passed away, can posthumously claim the Arctic Star to mark that service.
