PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
NAMING OF THE NATIONAL LIVING WAGE (20 July 2015)
Motion Details
That this House condemns the Government's naming of its so-called National Living Wage, while welcoming this de facto increase of the minimum wage; notes that this living wage aims to be based on a percentage of median income, rather than need; considers this an invidious attempt to devalue the term living wage, as used by campaigners such as the Living Wage Foundation for over a century; and calls on the Government to change this damaging rhetoric.
