OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP (14 July 2015)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates the Royal and Ancient Golf Club on hosting the 144th Open Championship on the historic Old Course at St Andrews, the Home of Golf; notes that this is the 29th time The Open has been played on the Old Course, making it the most frequent host of the tournament since its founding in 1860; further notes that golf has been played on the links at St Andrews since the early 1400s with the Old Course being founded in 1552, making it the most historic, as well as the best known of golf courses in the world; praises the hard work of the event's organisers and workers in arranging and running the tournament; wishes the tournament, competitors, spectators and townsfolk well for the week ahead; encourages visitors to enjoy the hospitality so generously offered by the ancient town of St Andrews; and sends best wishes to all those taking part.
