PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
HOSPICE CARE (11 June 2012)
Motion Details
That this House expresses its support for hospice care across the UK; commends the work of local charitable hospices which care for hundreds of thousands of people affected by a range of illnesses each year, helping people to live well until they die; recognises that hospices provide care in a variety of settings including people's own homes as well as in hospice buildings, and work with other services such as hospitals and care homes to raise the standard of care for people at the end of life; further recognises that without the support of local communities hospices would not be able to support so many seriously ill people; notes that UK hospice care is recognised across the world for its quality; and further notes that Hospice Care Week, which is led by Help the Hospices and supported by local charitable hospices around the UK, takes place from 8 to 14 October 2012 and, with the theme of Be Surprised: Hospice Care Is For Everyone, is drawing attention to the work that local hospices do to reach out to the many different communities that they serve.
