PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
HOMELESSNESS, DERELICT HOUSES AND THE EMPTY HOMES CAMPAIGN (25 March 2012)

That this House notes reports by the Empty Homes campaign which show that there are one million empty properties in the UK and increasingly people are reporting derelict homes in their localities; further notes that there aretwo million families in the UK inneed of a good home, and that homelessness charity Shelter reports a 13 per cent increase in the number of children living in sheltered accommodation since last year; praises the efforts of Empty Homes to bring this issue to public attention; and calls on the Government to take action to open up these empty properties to thosewhoare in need.
