CRISIS AT CHRISTMAS (13 December 2011)
Motion Details
That this House pays tribute to 40 years of Crisis at Christmas, which has provided support, companionship and vital services to homeless people at Christmas time since 1972; gives special acknowledgement to the hard work and dedication of the tens of thousands of volunteers and donors who have made this possible; recognises that whilstit is right to celebrate the lives helped and changed, it is a scandal that in twenty-firstcentury Britain homelessness still exists and that a single homeless person canapproach their local council for help and be turned away to sleep on the streets; and calls on the Government to consider what changes could be made to ensure that allhomeless people receive written advice, real assistance and emergency accommodation when they need it.
