METHODS AND EXTENT OF MEDIA INTRUSION (14 June 2011)
Motion Details
That this House is concerned about the spreading evidence for, and the extent of, unauthorised access, organised or freelance, to voicemail and other methods of privacy intrusion; asks the media owners and the Press Complaints Commission to agree with theGovernment an effective means of inquiry, with powers equivalent to a judicial review, into what is known, and what can be discovered, about such phone hacking; believes that a public report should be produced, with published evidence and unrestricted access to the files; and calls for such an inquiry to examine the nature of the relationships between the media, members of the Metropolitan Police Service and the wider police service.
