PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
RUGBY LEAGUE AND HOMOPHOBIA AND TRANSPHOBIA IN SPORT (6 June 2011)
Motion Details
That this House applauds the work of rugby league, the sport's governing body and all the teams in the Super League for their stance on tackling homophobia and transphobia in sport and ensuring that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are welcome in the sport of rugby league; acknowledges that rugby league is at the forefront of this work and recognises the sport as an example of best practice; congratulates the Rugby Football Leagueon becoming the first sporting organisation to be ranked in the Stonewall Workplace Index Top 100 organisations; congratulates all clubs in the Super League for simultaneously signing the Government's charter against homophobia and transphobia in sport; and would like to see more sports bodies and clubs following the lead of rugby league in this important area.
