PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
PROCESS AND MANUFACTURING SECTOR (7 February 2011)

Motion Details

That this House recognises the important contribution of the process and manufacturing sector to the UK economy; congratulates Proskills UK, the sector skills council for the sector, for its work in securing an award of 3.5 million of investment from the Skills Funding Agency as part of the Joint Investment Programme (JIP) which will be worth a total of 7.3 million when employer contributions are included; notes that the JIP funding will allow around 3,550 learners to achieve qualifications; further recognises the work Proskills UK does in actively representing the interests of the wood, paper, printing, glass, furniture, extractive and mineral processing, ceramics, coatings and building products industries; and calls on the Government to support the process and manufacturing industries in the years ahead.
