PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
SUSPENSION OF THE WARM FRONT SCHEME (25 January 2011)
Motion Details
That this House praises the Warm Front scheme which has helped insulate thousands of homes since it was set up by the previous Labour government; notes how the scheme has helped vulnerable people insulate their homes; recognises how important the scheme has been during recent cold spells; finds it puzzling that new applications for funding have been put on hold until April 2011; condemns the Government for not ensuring funding is in place for the next three months; finds it incredible that the scheme has been suspended during one of the coldest winters for many years; recognises that the suspension of applications will affect thousands of vulnerable people in constituencies like Halifax; calls on the Government to step in and ensure funding is in place immediately to enable people to apply for help with heating and insulation; and further calls on the Government to ensure the same thing does not happen next year and that adequate funding is in place all year round.
