COUNTRY OF ORIGIN FOOD LABELLING (30 November 2010)

Motion Details

That this House welcomes the publication of new guiding principles on country of origin labelling for food; congratulates the companies that have signed up to the principles including Asda, The Co-operative Group, Marks and Spencer, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Waitrose; recognises the importance of clear and accurate information on the origin of food; further congratulates the Minister for Agriculture and Food, the British Retail Consortium and the Food and Drink Federation on the development of these principles; and encouragesothers in the food industry to commit to follow these principles to further aid consumer understanding of the origin of the food they buy.
