PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ADULT AUTISM STRATEGY (9 November 2010)
Motion Details
That this House notes the forthcoming publication of statutory guidance arising from the Autism Act 2009; recognises that 63 per cent. of adults with autism report that they do not have enough support to meet their needs and that, as a result of this lack of support, a third of adults with autism have developed a serious mental health problem; further notes the importance of the guidance in securing the implementation of the Adult Autism Strategy, Fulfilling and Rewarding Lives; and calls on the Government to work closely with partners to ensure that the final guidance is suitably robust to make sure that the `ambitions of the strategy are translated into tangible advances in services', reflecting both the will of the Parliament which passed the Bill and the intention of the Government as set out in the introduction to the consultation on the guidance.
