PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
NATIONAL EXPRESS AND TRADE UNION RIGHTS (20 October 2010)
Motion Details
That this House deplores the continuing anti-union behaviour of management at UK-based National Express Group's North American yellow school bus subsidiaries; notes that National Express Group have declined to introduce a freedom of association policy, in order to protect the human rights of their employees as they seek to join a trade union of their choice; urges National Express Group to follow the example of their largest UK-based competitor in North America, First Group and adopt a freedom of association policy with independent oversight in its North American operations; and calls on the Government to take into account when tendering public contracts, or handing out public subsidies paid for by the taxpayer thebehaviour of companies that breach accepted international labour standards by refusing to recognise trade unions.
