PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
IMPACT OF SPENDING CUTS (11 October 2010)

Motion Details

That this House congratulates the Scottish Local Government Forum Against Poverty and Rights Advice Scotland for their detailed report, People, Councils, the Economy, which assesses the impact of the cuts totalling 500 million as a consequence of the Government's plans to cut or freeze benefits or change the methodology for annual indexing; condemns the fact that more than 147,000 pensioners in receipt of attendance allowance will share in an annual loss of 28 million and that pensioners in social housing could be forcibly evicted and or re-housed if their home is under-occupied; and demands that the Government keeps itspromise to protect pensioners, disabled people and the poorest members living in the lowest income households in communities across the UK.
