PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
DEPORTATION OF ROMA (10 October 2010)

Motion Details

That this House notes with concern that nearly 1,000 Roma have been removed to Romania and Bulgaria from France since July 2010; further notes that freedom of movement and non-discrimination are enshrined in EU lawand that the movement of Roma from country to country is not a sustainable solution; congratulates the EU Justice Commissioner Viviane Reding for her efforts to ensure the rights of all ethnic minorities in Europe are protected; and calls on the Government to work with its EU partners to seek to find a more permanent solution to the issue of Europe's Roma within the EU model.
