PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
PRESCRIPTION FOR THE UK'S HEART HEALTH CAMPAIGN (12 July 2010)
Motion Details
That this House notes that heart and circulatory disease is the UK's biggest killer; expresses its concerns at new challenges ahead including demographic change and a more stringent financial climate; is further concerned that the prevalence of heart and circulatory disease remains disproportionately high amongst people living in disadvantaged circumstances and from particular ethnic groups; supports the British Heart Foundation's Prescription for the UK's Heart Health campaign, which contains the commitments needed to protect the UK's heart health for the coming decade; calls on the Government to meet these challenges by setting out a renewed approach to tackling heart and circulatory disease in England to reduce its incidence to one of the lowest levels in Western Europe; further notes that this should build on the review of the National Service Framework for Coronary Heart Disease; and further calls on the Government to publish this without delay and to ensure that its first spending plans protect health funding and include sustained investment in public health.
