PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
STONING IN IRAN (15 July 2007)
Motion Details
That this House notes that Mokarrameh Ebrahimi, a 43 year old Iranian woman, has been incarcerated in Iran's Choubin Prison for 11 years; further notes that she has spent this time in prison after being charged with adultery; is appalled to hear that she now faces being stoned to death for the charge of adultery; condemns this practice as barbaric and against international law; and calls upon the Government to make urgent representations to the Iranian government to secure the release of Mokarrameh Ebrahimi and all others who are languishing in Iranian jails on charges of adultery and to make further representations to put an end to the cruel and barbaric practice of stoning.
