PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
SUPPORTING WORKING PARENTS AND CARERS (1 March 2007)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates the Government for introducing new rights for working parents which mean that from April this year all women will be entitled to 52 weeks' maternity leave, that statutory maternity pay and adoption pay is extended from six to nine months and that the right to request flexible working has been extended to those who care for adults; welcomes the Spotlight Campaign day organised by USDAW to raise awareness of these rights; welcomes and supports the views of USDAW, the Minister for Children and others that the right to request flexible working should be extended to all workers; and calls on the Government to bring forward proposals to achieve this as soon as possible.
