PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
EQUAL ACCESS TO SPORTS (25 January 2007)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates the English Federation on Disability Sport (EFDS) on its Count Me In campaign, which seeks to create and extend access to sport and physical activity for disabled people; encourages all organisations involved in the provision of sport, physical activity or recreation to demonstrate a commitment to giving disabled people the same rights to sporting opportunities as non-disabled people, particularly in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic games; urges all hon. Members to register their support for EFDS's Count Me In campaign online at www.efds.net and to encourage their constituents who support equal access for disabled people also to register their support online; congratulates the local authority Inclusive Fitness gymnasia who have achieved equal access for disabled people; and calls upon the Government actively to seek ways to promote and support the increasing development of equal access to recreational facilities for disabled people.
