PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT REPORT ON KASHMIR (29 November 2006)

That this House notes the publication of the draft report of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee on Kashmir (draft report No. 2005/2242 (INI)); regrets the absence of any commitment to a plebiscite for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to decide the future of the state as agreed by the UN; is concerned at the one-sided nature of the report, which condemns the actions of Pakistan and terrorists operating from that country but fails to recognise the scale and number of atrocities committed by the Indian army; and urges the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee to produce a more balanced final report.
