PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
INTERNATIONAL YOUNG DEMOCRAT UNION (29 November 2006)
Motion Details
That this House celebrates the 15th anniversary of the International Young Democrat Union (IYDU), a global alliance of centre right political youth organisations comprising of 80 political youth and student groups in some 50 countries, united by a common desire to spread freedom, democratic government and free markets; commends the IYDU for their continuing work in promoting the cause of freedom in countries where it is still denied to their people such as North Korea, Belarus, Cuba, Iran and Zimbabwe; notes that the IYDU was inaugurated by President Ronald Reagan in 1991 and is privileged in having the right hon. Baroness Thatcher of Kesteven LG, OM, FRS as its Patron; and welcomes the 9th IYDU Council meeting and the young representatives from all corners of the globe to London this week.
