PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
SUPPORT FOR TRADE UNION SURVIVAL PLAN FOR PEUGEOT (8 May 2006)

That this House is deeply alarmed at the announcement by Peugeot that it plans to close its plant at Ryton, near Coventry, with the loss of 2,300 jobs; notes that Peugeot is a highly profitable and successful company with a highly skilled and dedicated workforce; welcomes the survival plan, put forward by the Transport and General Workers' Union and the Amicus trade union, which would both save costs and ensure the survival of the plant; and calls on Peugeot's management to engage in constructive dialogue with the trade unions and on the Government to facilitate such dialogue in every possible way.
