PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
CREDIT UNION SERVICES (17 April 2006)
Motion Details
That this House supports the establishment and development of universal credit union (alternative banking) services available throughout the UK; commends these organisations for filling the gaps in provision due to bank closures, poverty, indebtedness or lack of mobility; supports the role of these services for the financially secure whose participation is needed to ensure their long term sustainability; and calls on the Government to make a commitment to supporting credit union services throughout their initial establishment and growth periods to ensure that they form part of social enterprise in each community.
