PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ROYAL NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR THE DEAF'S BREAKING THE SOUND BARRIER CAMPAIGN (7 February 2006)
Motion Details
That this House notes with concern that the Medical Research Council has revealed that there are four million people in the UK who could benefit from a hearing aid but do not currently use one; therefore supports RNID's Breaking the Sound Barrier campaign, which aims to change attitudes towards hearing loss and hearing aids and to encourage more people to have their hearing tested; further supports the campaign's efforts to tackle denial of hearing loss by creating opportunities for simple self-assessment, such as a five-minute telephone hearing check; and urges anyone concerned about their hearing to call 0845 600 55 55, and to encourage their friends, family and colleagues to do the same.
