PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
THE FUTURE OF THE MCTIMONEY COLLEGE OF CHIROPRACTIC (31 January 2006)
Motion Details
That this House is concerned to learn that the McTimoney College of Chiropractic, which has been in operation since 1972, is under threat; believes the General Chiropractic Council's decision to withdraw the recommendation for the college's accreditation to be ill-founded, jeopardising the future of its 200 current students who would not be able to graduate from the McTimoney College, after having spent up to four years studying and in the region of £2.3 million in fees, also damaging and putting at risk the future practice of over 500 McTimoney chiropractors; and calls on all parties involved to work together to resolve this issue, guarantee the future of the McTimoney College and preserve the McTimoney method of chiropractic, thus ensuring the continuation of a genuine choice of therapy for some 1.5 million patients who seek this method of treatment each year.
