PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
FUNDING AND PART-TIME STUDENTS (31 January 2006)

Motion Details

That this House notes that higher education institutions are currently only funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) for part-time students who complete their learning intention; further notes that this can lead to a higher education institution being not funded at all for a student for example who signs up for four modules and only completes three; further notes that a system whereby higher education institutions were funded according to the credits obtained by students rather than on a basis of learning agreements would be more conducive to flexible learning; and calls on the Government to implement the proposals as set out in the HEFCE review of the teaching funding method which ended in January.
