PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
BEATING BOWEL CANCER'S 2006 LOUD TIE CAMPAIGN (19 December 2005)

Motion Details

That this House notes that bowel cancer is the United Kingdom's second biggest cause of cancer deaths, affecting over 35,000 people each year, of whom almost half will die; further notes that 90 per cent. of lives could be saved by earlier detection and treatment of bowel cancer; believes that improving public awareness of bowel cancer will be crucial to maximising the effectiveness of screening and reducing deaths from the disease; supports Beating Bowel Cancer's 2006 Loud Tie Campaign and the call for the nation not to be tongue-tied about bowel cancer; and urges the Government to work closely with the charity to improve education and awareness of bowel cancer throughout the United Kingdom.
