PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (12 December 2005)
Motion Details
That this House recognises that the diagnosis and potential causes of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are increasing; congratulates ASSIST Trauma Care for providing evidence-based therapy for those suffering the effects of psychological trauma and on its work in meeting the needs of a significant number of trauma sufferers, many of whom are referred by general practitioners, primary care trusts and NHS Direct; and urges the Government to address the growing need for additional, highly trained, specialist trauma therapists whose provision of timely treatment will not only help to reduce the costs of long-term sickness and unemployment, but will also improve significantly the lives of PTSD sufferers and their families.
