PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
JERUSALEM AND THE PEACE PROCESS (29 November 2005)
Motion Details
That this House recognises the threat posed to the people of Jerusalem and the peace process by Israel's building of the wall which is isolating the city and dividing it into enclaves, and virtually severing the north and south of the Palestinian territory at its narrowest point; notes that the City of Jerusalem is of equal significance to Muslims, Christians and Jews and that all should have access to it; recognises that the eastern part of the city, which the Palestinians would wish to have as the capital of a Palestinian State, remains illegally occupied by Israel according to international law; and calls upon the Government to urge the Israeli government to halt this construction before it impacts further on the possibility of a lasting peace.
