PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
COMMISSION FOR ARCHITECTURE AND THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT (21 November 2005)

Motion Details

That this House welcomes the latest audit of new housing from the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE); notes that the report concludes that 24 per cent. of new homes built in the North of England since 2002 have been poor, and that only six per cent. were rated good; further notes that this finding follows a similar report by CABE on new housing in the South that found 22 per cent. of new homes were poor; commends CABE for the excellent work it does in promoting good design quality on new homes; believes that high quality public space and a sense of character and identity should be priorities when building new housing developments; and urges all local authorities to take advange of CABE's services when assessing new housing developments in their area.
